I became a paid subscriber because I was so compelled to comment on this entry. Your letter is amazeballs!!! It spoke to me directly, clearly, and like a lightening bolt to my soul. I have enjoyed your writing for years - this one blew me away. Thank you for your willingness, your vulnerablility, and your honesty. I'm going to be here for a while (and I'm thrilled!). Feels great to be here!

My mom and your mom are so similar. Thank you for posting your letter.

"You’ve already done the hard stuff, my diligent little bean. This part is fun." And turning the volume of joy up to 11! YES! And the tangibleness of making - not digitally but with actual paper and paint - that's joy flowing out of your fingers goodness. Thank you for sharing you because it also feels weirdly like you are sharing/reminding me to be me.

I follow Liz, so I had already listened to your lovely letter. I also do letters, writing in a journal. What I receive helps guide my life. I first heard of you, dear Emily, when a friend sent me a link to the post you did after your mother's death. I was also an art quilter, and very much aware, and in awe, of your mother, Ruth. Though I created around 100 art quilts over a 12 year period, my work was nothing like Ruth's. I didn't piece - I fused! Are you familiar with Wonder Under? I bought the stuff by the bolt, and regret that I never invested in their company stock... Thank you for a peek into your life, and a new understanding of your mother. My Mom died in 1989, but, happily, she's still around. I never really sold my work, but I have a gallery of my art quilts on my website: https://jeanbaardsen.com , if you're curious. Best wishes, Jean

Hi Jean, thank you so much for this kind note! I am familiar with Wonder Under; I'm more of a fuser than a piecer myself. :) You're a true multi-hyphenate and your work is wonderful. <3

Emily, you let Love come through you in the way it does — powerfully, revealingly, and truly. Is it ok to post your art piece? Is it available for purchase? 💚

Hi Julie! It is totally OK to post this art piece. It's not for sale (yet)... but there's a print shop in my future this year. Stay tuned!
