I’m in. I did a hundred day project a few years ago with Suleika Jaouad’s Isolation Journals community and wrote poetry for the first time. It was a really transformative experience. I posted the poems each day on social media for accountability (the accountability was incredibly helpful, I’m easily distracted) but I’m not using social media anymore. Weekly checkins would be a good substitute! I’m in central time in the US and could meet anytime but later evening. I’m not a night person and am incredibly useless after dinner. 😂 But if that time ends up working best for others, I’ll still follow along and participate.

I’m in! The closest I’ve been to a 100 day commitment was a journaling practice 25 years ago. Despite an art degree, I haven’t drawn in decades. When I turned a designer and creative director all personal pursuits went by the wayside. I’m curious to see what’s under all the rust! 🤗

I’m MT and prefer weekday mornings 8-10am, or anytime Sundays, but could make most things work.

I'm in for the 100 Day Project! Weekdays between 8:30a - 2p at the latest are best for me but I'm also somewhat flexible.

Also, "Painting and drawing on actual paper, instead of an iPad for production, felt like a return to a language I’d grown up speaking, but forgotten. I spent thousands of hours of my childhood absorbed in drawing on whatever I could find—sketchbooks, math tests, the backs of envelopes—but that version of me grew up into someone who put art on a to-do list." YEP.

I recently did an at-home artist residency week with friends. We met up to collect a curated box (from the hosts, so sweet) of creative supplies and prompts for a week of prioritizing creative fun again. And I had THEE hardest time just making something for "nothing" (ie not for my business, or a potential product to release later, as a gift for someone, etc.). Like it took me the entire week just to do one thing on actual paper, just for the hell of it. So yeah. A lot needs to be undone and I couldn't relate more to that paragraph. Thank you for doing this!!!

Ohhh yes, I one million percent relate to the struggle to "make something just for fun." WHAT IS FUN?!?! One of my goals for this project was for the process to help me undo that conditioning, so I picked something I couldn't monetize even if I wanted to: drawing/painting (mostly) portraits, which I am not great at and aren't product-friendly anyway. :) I'm so happy you're joining us, Sarah!

I started the 100 day project on Feb 18th but have missed a few days already. Looking forward to following your progress and insights for inspiration and encouragement. Developing a practice really instigates a lot of reflection and awareness about my habits and what I call my 'cranky brain resistance.’

Ohhhh yes, I'm experiencing the same thing. In a hot twist of irony, I missed yesterday because I was writing this newsletter. HA!!!! So happy you're joining!

Ohhhh this is so gorgeous. I’ve been wondering what you’ve been up to and this is the perfect answer. I can totally relate to the liminal life space. Things have been stagnant and slowly shifting for me and I’m just this past few days feeling a gentle sense of movement and progress. I’m reluctant to say too much lest I jinx myself but … anyway. I will give genuine thought to the 100day project. Looks like fun - even if only for the zoom show and tell sessions!! I’m down for late afternoon USA Time on weekdays (that roughly concerts to mid mornings Australian east coast time…)

Hi Israel! Great to see you. :) Gentle movement and progress sounds so lovely, and I know this shift well (and the terror of jinxing it!). For me, the move from groundlessness to new territory hasn't felt absolutely linear-- it's like a two steps forward, one step back kind of thing. I hope you're able to join us!

I would love this! I recently started exploring watercolor. Sometimes I like what I make and sometimes I don't, but my day is always better when I paint for even ten minutes. Will follow along regardless of the Zoom time, but Sundays, Mondays, and Fridays (pre-Shabbat on east coast time) would be so nice :)

SO inspirational. So Happy! So Joyous! What a wonderful time you’ve had. I’m thrilled for you.

My sister and I do a little art every day, photograph it and share it with each other by text. We started March 2020 when the National Gallery of Australia put out a month of art prompts for kids. We thought If kids can do it, surely we can, and we loved it so much we’ve continued ever since with just the odd gap when Life (or exhaustion) intervenes. I’m off on a painting trip next week, and another longer one in April. I’m so thankful to be me. And yes, if it works out with international time differences, I’d love to ‘meet up’ and share.

Hugs my dear. So glad that you’ve had this extraordinary experience. 🤗🤗😘🥰

I'm in on the 100 day challenge! I joined as a paid sub because this sang to me! I have always viewed you as an artist as much as everything else you do, but I understand the factory mindset too. Been there as well and sometimes I still am. I've been in a devastating art slump over the past few weeks - it's been really weird - and I've been working hard to break out of it, so this is a great motivational treat. I am flexible on time but prefer days over nights and I'll be away 3/11-3/16 so if a zoom gets scheduled then and I'm not in attendance, that's why. (Also, I'm Eastern Standard Time.)

Lori! So sorry for my slow reply here. First, you're going to love it, I'm thinking about going back this winter. Recs as follows!

La Cosecha Organic Market – a central courtyard surrounded by 8 or so little food stalls making various kinds of Oaxacan food, juice, coffee, etc. We ate here several times, it’s great.

Levadura de Olla – creative, high-end Oaxacan food, loved this place, ate there twice. Make a res.

Boulenc – if you can eat bread (I can’t, boo) this place looked incredible. Bakery and lunch.

Los Danzantes – very good high-end Oaxacan food, more traditional than Levadura de Olla. On the way in, you walk through a courtyard and you’ll pass a beautiful textile shop on the right that specializes in indigo and other natural dyes. $$$ but gorgeous.

Voces de Copal – art gallery and shop with some really unique pieces, different from what you find everywhere else.

Otro Oaxaca – a very spendy, new, design-centric hotel. It was beyond my budget for rooms (I bet they’re fantastic), BUT one of the coolest things we did was book their private underground pool & steam room, which is available for non-guests in 2-hour bookings and holds up to 8 people (but if you book it, it's exclusively yours, even if your party is smaller). The pool is round and modeled after a cenote, and it's gorgeous -- if you like spa-y things, check out the pics. I also had one of the best drinks of my life at their bar.

Masajes Nativo Spa Oaxaca – not a fancy place, their massages are excellent. Highly recommend.

Oaxaca Artisan Market – if you want to buy textiles/clothes, you can get them all over Oaxaca, or you can go here and find basically everything in one place (except for the handwoven natural dye stuff) with a bigger selection.

Mercado 20 de Noviembre – the main market, 80% food but lots of other stuff too, definitely worth a visit or two.

Hierve el Agua – mineral springs about 2 hours from Oaxaca, DEFINITELY worth it but only if you go early (like leave at 7am). It’s so gorgeous. The IG crowd and tour buses started to arrive around 10:15am when we were there, and it gets very crowded.

Yes! I'm in ... Whether sketches, poems, mix, I want to do this! This sounds lovely and the impetus for me to actually do it. Sunday evenings would be open, CST, or any evening. Daytime is always hard because of where I work, at least until June ... But that's the end! 😂 I could probably sneak in a late weekday afternoon.
