Hi, hi, hi.
Last summer, I did the illustrations for my good pal
’s newest book, Time Anxiety, which comes out next week. The night of its release, next Tuesday, April 15th at 7:00pm, Chris and I will be at Powell's Cedar Hills Crossing (3415 SW Cedar Hills Blvd, Beaverton, OR 97005). Please join us!
Chris and I will have a brief conversation about the book followed by a Q&A and a signing, during which I will be hanging out, eating baked goods (see below) and chatting with whoever wants to chat with me. The whole event will be short, informal, and fun.
Time Anxiety is for anyone who feels stressed out about not getting enough done, running out of time to do what you want to do, or “falling behind” in life. It’s filled with legitimately helpful advice on how to live a more meaningful, relaxed, intentional life — and there are no seven-step systems to be overwhelmed by, and no morning routines to fail at. This is a “wow, someone sees me!” kind of book; it’s an exhale.
Chris has written many books, and he does a book tour with each one because he loves to meet and connect with folks. These are his instructions for attending:
1) Most of all, show up and say hi to someone! The best thing about our meetups is the other people who come out, and this book tour is no exception.
2) Anyone can take photos (share with hashtag #TimeAnxiety), anyone can bring cupcakes or other baked goods to share (optional, of course!), and you can also just come to hang out—any of the above is totally fine!
3) If you have a friend who might be interested, feel free to bring them along.
This is an invitation to a book event, but also?
I have long Covid and I can’t find the words to say exactly what I mean here.
But the gist is: The world is fucking terrifying and unstable and therefore it feels critical to me, in this moment, to meet up with some kind, interesting people, eat cookies together, and talk about a book, and life, and finding our way through.
I really hope to see you there.
